The Pakistan Environmental Protection Act, 1997 is a federal legislation for environmental protection, management, and sustainable development in Pakistan. It extends to whole of Pakistan. The Pakistan Environmental Protection Act, 1997 grants significant authority to the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for enforcing environmental laws, including conducting environmental impact assessments, regulating emissions, and ensuring compliance with environmental standards. The Pakistan Environmental Protection Act, 1997 has repealed the Pakistan Environmental Protection Ordinance, 1983.
