The Motion Pictures Ordinance, 1979 was enacted to provide for the censorship of films, the regulation of exhibition of films by means of cinematographs, to provide the moral guidelines for the industry and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. After the 18th amendment of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan the law became the provincial subject and amended vide “The Punjab Motion Pictures (Amendment) Act, 2012”. Thereafter the law is applicable to the whole of Punjab.
