The Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Act, 2021 was enacted to make provisions for prohibition of corporal punishment against children. The reasons for this prohibition is firstly the recognition of the inviolability of the dignity of a person as the fundamental right by the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and secondly the Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Act, 2021 fulfills the requirements of Article 19 of the United Nations Convention on Rights of the Child (1989) which has been ratified by the Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, due to which it becomes necessary to make provisions for the protection of children against corporal punishment by any person at work places, educational institutions (Islamic & Non-Islamic), foster care institutes and juvenile justice system etc. According to the Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Act, 2021, the child has the right to be shown respect for his personality and individuality and shall not be made subject to corporal punishment or any other humiliating or degrading treatment.

Furthermore the Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Act, 2021, states numerous minor and major penalties in regard to the violation of the provisions of this act.
