The Companies (General Provisions and Forms) Rules, 1985, were made by the Federal Government in exercise of the powers conferred by the section 506 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984. After defining general subjects these rules embark to describe procedures for filing certain documents and applications with the commission such as application for alteration in memorandum and for grant of a license and manner of circulation of reports and notices. A complete procedure for transfer of shares is given in these rules. Under these rules, the companies have to maintain certain registers containing particulars of members and directors, etc. Manner for certification of documents is given in these rules. Thorough analysis of the Companies (General Provisions and Forms) Rules, 1985, it provides basic guidelines for the general functioning of a company, however, these rules were repealed by the Companies (General Provisions and Forms) Regulations, 2018
