These Rules shall be called the Supreme Court Rules, 1980. The Supreme Court of Pakistan made these rules in exercise of the powers conferred under Article 191 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The Supreme Court Rules, 1956 were revoked by enactment of the new rules. The Rules describe offices and officers of the Court and also provide the procedure of constitution of benches of the Court and manner of pronouncement of decree, judgment and order. These Rules also give procedure of contempt of Court proceedings. Part II of these Rules is related to appellate jurisdiction.
