The Punjab Prohibition of Kite Flying Ordinance, 2001 (“Ordinance”) was initially enacted for the purpose of prohibition of certain acts in kite flying and making it safe for catering certain situations. Later in the year 2009 the Government of Punjab made the final amendment in the Ordinance vide “Punjab Prohibition of Kite Flying (Amended) Act 2009”. The law prevents kite flying in order to save human life, public and private properties and matters connected therewith and incidental thereto. It governs the things including kite flying, the kites stocks, its transportation and things ancillary thereto. The initial amendment was made in 2006 as “Prohibition of Kite Flying (Amended) Ordinance 2006” which was later repealed. The Kite Flying Rules, 2007 were made in furtherance to the law for streamlining the rules and regulations related to kite flying and trading activities.
