The Punjab Industrial Relations Act, 2010 (the “Act”) is applicable to every establishment or industry situated in Punjab. The Worker under the Act means any person not falling within the definition of employer, who is employed, including employment as a supervisor or as an apprentice in an establishment or industry for hire or reward either directly or through a contractor. The Act provides requirements and mechanism for the establishment of trade unions in establishment. Workers and employers have the right to establish and join trade unions. The Act enlists the unfair labour practices on the part of the worker/trade union and on the part of the employers.
