Punjab Environmental Protection (Review of Initial Environmental Examination and Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations, 2022 are made under the Section 33 of the Punjab Environmental Protection Act, 1997 and the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency with approval of the Punjab Government. This regulation is applicable to the province of Punjab, Pakistan. The Punjab Environmental Protection (Review of Initial Environmental Examination and Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations, 2022 provides a legal framework for conducting environmental assessments, defining the scope of projects subject to assessment in Schedules I and II respectively, and establishing procedures for submitting and reviewing environmental reports. The Regulation also defines the roles and responsibilities of relevant authorities and the Agency, and set out the criteria for approving or rejecting projects based on their environmental impact. The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) Regulations are put in place by the Punjab Government to ensure that proposed development projects, industrial activities, or other initiatives take into account their potential environmental impacts.
