The Prevention of Corruption Act 1947 was enacted to make effective provisions for the prevention of bribery and corruption in Pakistan. It extents to the whole of Pakistan and applies to all citizens of Pakistan and persons in the service of Governments wherever they may be. For the purposes of this Act, “public servant” means a public servant as defined in Section 21 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The amendment in the act was made vide Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2017.
