Under the Minimum Wages Ordinance, 1961 a Minimum Wages Board is established which recommends minimum wages for a particular industry. Functions of the said Board are to hold necessary inquiry and make recommendations to the Provincial Government upon reference made by the Government. The Provincial Government is empowered to declare by notification in the official Gazette the minimum rates of wages for workers specified as recommended by the Board. No employer can pay any worker wages at a rate lower than the rate declared under this Ordinance to be minimum rate of such worker.
