The Broadband Quality of Service Regulations, 2014 are made by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. Broadband Quality of Service Regulations, 2014 are made under the clause (o) of Sub-section 2 of Section 5 of Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organization) Act, 1996. These Regulations shall apply to all BSP (s) in order to define the key performance indicators (“KPIs”) for Broadband services. These KPIs shall be the quantifiable benchmark for determining quality of services for Broadband service. The Broadband Quality of Service Regulations, 2014 provide framework to ensure and enhance the quality of broadband services provided by internet service providers (“ISPs”) and other relevant entities in the country. These Regulations set specific standards and guidelines for broadband service quality, aiming to protect the interests of consumers and improve their internet experience. Key provisions of these Regulations include requirements for the ISPs to meet defined quality of service parameters, such as minimum and maximum broadband speeds, latency, and packet loss. Operators must also maintain transparency by providing customers with accurate information about the quality of service they can expect. Regular monitoring, testing, and reporting of network performance are mandated to ensure compliance with the quality standards. These Regulations establish a clear mechanism for addressing customer complaints, further safeguarding consumer interests.
