This Act may be called as The Antiquities Act, 1975. The Act was enacted to repeal and re-enact the law relating to the preservation and protection of antiquities. It is applicable to the whole of Pakistan. If the Federal Government has reasonable grounds that any l and contains any antiquity it may direct the Provincial Government to acquire it and the Provincial Government shall acquire such l and under the L and Acquisition Act, 1894. If any dispute and question arises whether any product, object or site is an antiquity within the meaning of this Antiquities Act it shall be referred to the Federal Government which shall after consultation with the advisory committee decides the matter and the decision of the Federal Government shall be final. The Federal Government may acquire any protected immoveable property with certain exceptions under Section 15. No person shall deal in antiquities without license by the Director. The Director with permission of the Federal Government, purchases, takes lease or accept a gift or bequest of, an antiquity.
