Functions of National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee ("NJPMC") - Khalid Zafar & Associates

The National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (“NJPMC”) was formed under Ordinance LXXI of 2002. The National Judicial (P0licy Making) Committee Ordinance, 2002 stipulates that National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee shall be comprised of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court and Chief Justices of four Provincial High Courts as its members. The Chief Justice of Pakistan shall be chairman of the committee.

Functions of the Committee prescribed under law are to coordinate and harmonize judicial policy within the Court system in coordination with Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan; to ensure its implementation the Committee shall perform the following functions:

  1. improve the capacity and performance of the administration of justice;
  2. setting performance st andards for judicial officers and persons associated with performance of judicial and quasi judicial functions;
  3. improvement in the terms and conditions of service of judicial officers and Court staff, to ensure skilled and efficient judiciary; and
  4. publication of annual or periodic reports of the Supreme Court, Federal Shariat Court, High Courts and Courts subordinate to High Courts and Administrative Courts and Tribunals.
