The West Pakistan Maternity Ordinance, 1962 (the “Ordinance”) is applicable on all establishments whether industrial, commercial or otherwise. Every woman employed in an establishment is entitled to a maximum of twelve weeks of maternity leave which shall be fully paid by the employer. The maternity benefits are paid by the employer at the rate of her wages last paid during a period of six weeks immediately preceding. Only those woman employees are entitled to maternity benefits who have been employed in the establishment of the employer for a period of not less than four months.
