The Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act, 2016
The Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act, 2016 was promulgated for promoting transparency in the working of every public authority by setting out a practical regime for every citizen to secure access to information in a rapid and low cost manner under the control of public authorities. The Act was promulgated in lieu of Article 19 A of the Constitution which was inserted vide 18th amendment in the year 2010 and provides that every citizen shall have the right to access to information in all matters of public importance, subject to regulation and reasonable restrictions imposed by law. The Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act, 2016 provides the establishment of Sindh Information Commission. The Act has repealed the Sindh Freedom of Information Act, 2006.
