The Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services Act, 2008 was enacted for the establishment of the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services in order to promote research, provide training and to provide facility of information to the Parliamentarians in performance of their duties and for matters connected. Some major functions of the institute are to maintain the national, provincial and international data, information and statistics to provide to the Parliamentarians for the efficient performance of their duties, to provide technical assistance to the Parliamentarians and to provide training to the Parliamentarians etc. Under the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services Act, 2008, the overall control, direction and superintendence of the affairs of the institute shall vest in the Board of Governors comprising President, Vice-president and several other members. The Board of Governors then shall appoint an Executive Director of the Institute. The Executive Director shall be the Chief Executive working under the Board.
