The Societies Registration Act, 1890 was enacted for the registration of societies for educational and diffusion of knowledge purposes. It was enacted under the undivided British India before partition. It was inforce in Pakistan and provides for the registration of different societies established for promotion of literature, science, fine arts, or for the diffusion of useful knowledge, the diffusion of political education or for charitable purposes. Any seven or more persons associated for any literary, scientific or charitable purposes, or for any such purpose as is described in Section 20 of this Act, may, by subscribing their names to a memor andum of association and filing the same with registrar of Joint Stock Companies, to form themselves into a society under this Act. This act extends to the whole of Pakistan.
