Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency Review of Initial Environmental Examination and Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2000 is made under Section 33 of Pakistan Environmental Protection Act, 1997 and Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency with approval from the Federal Government. It is applicable to whole of Pakistan. Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency Review of Initial Environmental Examination and Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2000 provides a context of environmental governance, specifically concerning development projects of significance. These Regulations impose a mandatory requirement on project proponents to conduct either an Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) or an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), as mentioned in the Schedules I and II of these Regulations, as part of a comprehensive evaluation process designed to ascertain and address potential environmental impacts arising from proposed activities. The Regulations provide a set of procedural and substantive requirements, encompassing the preparation, submission, and review of IEE and EIA reports to the concerned Agency/Committee whose approval is mandatory.
