This Ordinance may be called the Offences Against Property (Enforcement of ‘Hudood’) Ordinance, 1979 and is enacted to modify the existing law relating to certain offences against property, so as to bring it in conformity with the injunctions of Islam as set out in the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah. It extends to the whole of Pakistan. It shall come into force on the twelfth day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, 1399 Hijri, that is the tenth day of February, 1979. This Ordinance defines the offences relating to property where Hadd shall be enforced and imposed. However, this Ordinance also provides the cases where Hadd shall not be imposed. The provisions of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 and certain provisions of Pakistan Penal Code, I860 shall apply mutatis mut andis in respect of cases under this Ordinance.
