This Court Fees Act 1870 was enacted on 11th March 1870 in British India. It was later (post partition) adopted and enacted in Pakistan for the purpose of affixing the stamp duty and court fee on the documents presented or to be presented in the Courts and other Public Offices of various jurisdiction across Pakistan. Under this Act the appropriate Government means, in relation to fees or stamps relating to documents presented or to be presented before any officer serving under the Federal Government, that Government, and in relation to any other fees or stamps, the Provincial Government.
