The Punjab Infectious Diseases (Prevention and Control) Act, 2020 was enacted to make provisions for prevention and control of infectious diseases in the Punjab and matters ancillary and connected thereto.
The Punjab Epidemic Diseases Act, 1958 (XXXVI of 1958) was repealed. However, the previous operation of the Punjab Epidemic Diseases Act, 1958 (XXXVI of 1958) or anything duly done or suffered thereunder was not affected. The right, privilege, obligation or liability acquired, accrued or incurred under repealed Punjab Epidemic Diseases Act; any penalty, forfeiture or punishment incurred in respect of any offence committed against the Punjab Epidemic Diseases Act, 1958; and any investigation, legal proceedings or remedy in respect of any such right, privilege, obligation, liability, penalty, forfeiture or punishment as aforesaid, and any such investigation, legal proceedings or remedy instituted, continued or enforced and any such penalty, forfeiture and punishment imposed under the repealed Punjab Epidemic Diseases Act shall not be affected.
