The National Assembly of Pakistan enacted the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 on 23rd February, 2007 in pursuance of Article 67 of the Constitution of the Pakistan, 1973. After various amendments in the Constitution were made, it was necessary to amend the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 to bring them in conformity with the amended Constitution. Accordingly, the National Assembly unanimously passed various amendments in the aforesaid Rules on 24th December, 2010; 10th July, 2012; 29th January, 2013; 15th December, 2015; 23rd February 2016; 1st August 2016; 9th August 2016; 18th August 2016; 30th November 2016; and 13th February, 2018. These Rules provides election of speaker, deputy speaker, prime minister and declaration of leader of the opposition. Chapter X is related to discussion on matters of public importance and the provision of Chapter XII of these Rules prescribe the privileges of the members of National Assembly.
